Pacmar, a manufacturer of fruit juices, has gone live with a Baan Ivc4 Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system implemented by CS TSA, a value-added reseller of Softworx.
The Baan Food and Beverage Mid market solution, which was installed at Pacmar over a 16 week period, has 6 concurrent users and runs on a hardware platform of IBM Netfinity 5 000.
"The Baan Midmarket Solution is a pre-configured package based on industry standards which makes it possible to do a quick implementation with most processes and parameters already in place. Pacmar didn`t want to re-invent the wheel but wanted a quick and effective implementation that would bring them added benefit immediately," says Sandra Vidas, CS TSA Project Manager.
Prior to the implementation of the Baan system, Pacmar was running a manual system with stand-alone systems to manage stock and finance. There was no integration between finance and logistics and became difficult to consolidate figures at the end of each month. Managing stock levels was also extremely difficult, as there was no control on movement of stock. The implementation of Baan Ivc 4 allowed them to have an integrated automated ordering and logistical planning system, which helps to optimise logistical control.
The system is mainly used by operational sections at Pacmar for sales, purchasing, manufacturing, planning, finance (admin.) as well as for the generation of financial and management reports.
According to Vidas, the system should allow the fruit juice manufacturer to detect and analyse problems in the logistical flow of goods and to implement solutions with minimum effort. The ERP package will also allow the optimising of logistical control, including automation of the ordering process.
