Johannesburg-based ISP Intdev Internet Technologies is now offering data protection and recovery through its recent partnership with data continuity company Cibecs.
Through the partnership, Intdev will offer the Cibecs Continuity Agent, giving companies the ability to store key business information off-site on its servers.
"Companies give little thought to backing up data until data loss occurs. Ask anyone who has had computers stolen or hard drives corrupted how badly it affects their business continuity, time, and, essentially, their bottom line," says Felix Frankenberger, Intdev marketing director.
He says clients can set backup timing, as well as add members to their account with customised options available for each member. “In addition, they can set a cap on the size of their data transfer.”
Autonomous monitoring
“The program eliminates human error by scanning files to find changes. When a change is detected, the files are compressed, encrypted, and securely transferred to our online data centre,” explains Frankenberger.
The application automatically watches over folders like the Windows Desktop, My Documents, Favourites, and monitors the data folders for Microsoft Outlook and Outlook express. Other folders can also be added to the list in the backup facility, he explains.
“With no capital investment or hardware required, clients can access their data from anywhere in the world,” says Frankenberger.
The backup solution allows for 2GB of information to be backed up without incurring additional costs on a monthly fee. Additional space is charged for on a per-gigabyte metering per month.
Keeping setup and storage costs low means small and medium enterprises have access to enterprise backup solutions and packages are structured to allow for monthly budgeting, notes Frankenberger.
