BMC Software has announced Patrol Storage Network Manager, a new storage network management tool that provides a single, integrated point of control for monitoring, management, control and automation of storage elements across an enterprise.
A key benefit of Patrol Storage Network Manager is its ability automatically to discover and map all of the storage devices on a network, providing a clear graphical view of the physical storage devices and defining how they are connected. This view is available in various formats, depending on the level of information needed. This detailed topography allows customers to fine-tune their storage network, based on changing business needs. In addition to supporting storage area networks (SANs), this solution is set apart with its ability to support network-attached storage (NAS) and direct-attached storage.
"Storage is a burning topic in today`s IT infrastructure, consuming more than 55% of most companies` IT hardware budgets. Today`s businesses demand non-stop access to more and more stored data," says Reg Swart, business unit GM at BMC master distributor MGX Enterprise Solutions.
Patrol Storage Network Manager addresses this issue, simplifying and streamlining increasingly complex storage environments, adding the interoperability needed to manage heterogeneous networks. It can map and discover all forms of storage assets, easing the transition from traditional to networked storage.
A component of BMC`s Application-Centric Storage Management approach, Patrol Storage Network Manager provides a single point to manage heterogeneous SANs or multiple vendors` devices in direct relation to the applications those storage elements support. This approach provides the information necessary to manage storage according to business needs. For example, an organisation may need a specific application to receive priority storage status during heavily accessed timeframes.
