PC Pro Magazine Gives High Marks to Raritan Computer`s Dominion KX

Somerset, NJ, 17 Jan 2005

Raritan Computer Inc., a leading provider of solutions for managing IT infrastructure equipment and the mission-critical applications and services that run on it, today announced that PC Pro magazine has awarded five stars to Raritan`s remote management KVM (keyboard, video, mouse) switch, the Dominion KX.

Raritan`s Dominion KX216 was given the high rating because it is "a well-built KVM switch with a fine range of web-management features, speedy remote control performance and good security measures, plus some useful optional power controls," said the computer magazines Reviewer Dave Mitchell.

Mitchell also said that the Dominion KX216 is a "better value than products such as the similarly equipped Avocent DSR1161. Although the CIMs are the same price, Avocent`s optional management and viewing software adds a hefty bill to the total cost."

"The Dominion KX continues to be recognized by industry experts and by our customers as the top digital KVM switch for remotely and securely managing servers and IT devices in data centers and remote offices," said Peter Moerland, Managing Director-Raritan Europe.

The Dominion KX is a completely self-contained system with all features, including authentication and Web-access, built into the box. After connecting servers and devices to the KX using standard UTP cabling, users simply set an IP address and begin managing. Advanced features include 128-bit encryption of not only keyboard and mouse signals, but also video; dual-Ethernet connections for network redundancy; and a dedicated modem port so that servers can be accessed even in the event of a network failure. Dominion KX has built-in authentication capabilities, as well as integrates easily with existing authentication systems, such as LDAP, RADIUS, and Active DirectoryTM.
