As part of the recent PeopleSoft 8 launch in New York, the e-business application provider has unveiled 59 newly-developed, pure Internet collaborative applications that enable organisations to conduct eCommerce with customers, employees, and suppliers.
Jan Coetzee, managing director of PeopleSoft SA, explains how the new applications will help organisations increase their competitiveness, "By extending business processes beyond the enterprise, customers, employees and suppliers will all have access to the seamless exchange of ideas, information, products, and services via the Internet."
These customer-, employee-, and supplier-facing applications span PeopleSoft`s product lines, including customer relationship management (CRM), supply chain management, human resources management, and financials.
All collaborative applications will leverage PeopleSoft eBusiness analytics applications, that, according to Coetzee, help companies optimise their workforce, business processes and customer relationships.
The reason, he says, is because the collaborative applications are accessed via role-based PeopleSoft portals that tailor business content to individual users. "For example, users signing on to their portal would see integrated business content, including customer, human resource, supplier, and analytic information. This content is delivered to users in a way that is relevant to their needs, enabling quick and intelligent business decisions and increasing workplace satisfaction and productivity."
Collaborative applications such as PeopleSoft eBenefits, PeopleSoft eRecruit, PeopleSoft eProcurement, PeopleSoft Travel & Expense, and PeopleSoft eProcurement extend specific business processes to PeopleSoft MarketPlace, a trading exchange allowing PeopleSoft customers to conduct business-to-business (B2B) eCommerce with a community of suppliers offering a wide range of goods and services.
Craig Conway, president and CEO of PeopleSoft concludes that the delivery of close to 60 applications in a single launch as a truly amazing feat. He comments that the collaborative applications give customers a full range of solutions to choose from to build profitable relationships with their customers, employees, and suppliers via the Internet, and concludes that this will additionally increase PeopleSoft`s overall product offering by 50 percent.
