PeopleSoft delivers Certified Enterprise Balanced Scorecard for e-business intelligence

Johannesburg, 12 Apr 2000

PeopleSoft has been awarded the "Balanced Scorecard Collaborative" (BSCol) certification for its -based Balanced Scorecard solution. The application is one of the first enterprise eBusiness products to receive this certification.

The certification process consists of a demonstration of the product by the application provider, a documentation review, interviews, and a Balanced Scorecard Collaborative lab test.

"The BSCol certified programme ensures that PeopleSoft`s customers receive a comprehensive solution that accurately reflects our methodology," says Professor Robert Kaplan, joint author of the "Balanced Scorecard", together with Dr David P. Norton.

According to Jan Coetzee, MD of PeopleSoft South Africa, the Peoplesoft Balanced Scorecard functions as the `central nervous system` of the Enterprise Performance Management suite of integrated eBusiness intelligence systems.

"The PeopleSoft Balanced Scorecard allows senior management to communicate corporate strategy to all employees, enhance productivity, and co-ordinate activities across the enterprise," he says. "The system acts upon key indicators drawn from financial measures, customer relationships, internal business processes and workforce factors," continues Coetzee.

Coetzee explains that the certification demonstrates how PeopleSoft delivers the critical elements of the Balanced Scorecard management system. This includes customer, financial, internal, learning and growth perspectives, which allow for the rapid implementation of a strategy that enhances an organisation`s performance.

"This solution enables businesses to automate and communicate strategic objectives, as well as the related measures and initiatives, to all levels of an organisation," adds Coetzee.

Baer Tierkel, executive VP of worldwide strategy and marketing at PeopleSoft, comments: "The certification underscores our commitment to providing a reliable, integrated eBusiness intelligence solution."

"By coupling our strength in integrated eBusiness intelligence, with the thought-leadership of the BSCol, we aim to provide a comprehensive value-add for customers," he concludes.
