PeopleSoft says it is in final negotiations to sell its SA subsidiary and move to a distributor-based operation. The company has also confirmed that local MD Jan Coetzee has resigned, in what is described as a sensitive situation.
PeopleSoft SA says it hopes to announce by the end of next week which distributor will take responsibility for its local operations.
"PeopleSoft has announced its intention to move towards a distributor-based model in SA and it is in final negotiations for a potential buyer of the South African subsidiary," the company said in an interim statement.
The company declined to discuss Coetzee`s reasons for leaving and Coetzee refused to comment on the situation when contacted by ITWeb.
Customer services manager Abigail Brooks says customers and business partners have been informed of events. "This should not be interpreted as disinvestments from SA," she says.
According to the statement, a letter has been distributed to local customers promising that localisation to software scheduled for later this year would proceed and that customers would retain access to global support resources.
A fuller statement on the matter is expected from the PeopleSoft European head office today or early next week.
