Persetel and Q Vector, Comparex Africa`s two data centre specialists, are to join forces under a single management structure.
Persetel managing executive Leon Avenant, who will head the new structure, says "both companies have different strengths within the same market, and there are massive synergies to be derived from deploying our resources and skill sets from a single point".
Avenant says the new management structure will help Comparex Africa to strengthen its position in the South African data centre market. He adds that Q Vector is a key source of Unix expertise within the Comparex stable, with a long-standing relationship with Sun Microsystems.
Persetel has specialist relationships in the date centre sector including IBM and high-availability storage specialist EMC.
"What this means is that we`ll be able to offer a far greater value proposition to our clients, who will benefit from a far broader choice and skill set within the data centre environment," says Avenant.
The move is not a merger, however, and both companies will continue to operate under their existing brands.
Avenant says the move is expected to have positive spin-offs for both business units and for the newly-branded Comparex Africa group, formerly PQ Africa.
