Planning for the 2011 Photo and Film Expo is well under way and stand bookings have just been opened.

Over half the available space has already been reserved with eight months to go, and most exhibitors from both the 2009 and 2010 events are increasing their presence this year and we're inundated with requests from new participants.

Event organiser, Matt Raven says: “Improving on the previous events we're maintaining a very focussed approach and only up exhibitors who cater to either the photographic or film industries, whether they be equipment suppliers, providers to the industry or creatives.”

“In 2009 we used about 4 500 square metres of exhibition floor space,” he says, adding: “2010 doubled in size to over 10 000 square metres.”

This year, Raven says, will likely be using the entire available area within the Coca-Cola Dome in Northgate, Johannesburg.

The show will run from 13 to 16 October and entry ticket fees will remain unchanged at R80 per person or R200 for the full four-day pass.

For this entry fee visitors will be able to visit the numerous free workshops hosted by top local and international photographers and creatives.

Equipment will be sold to visitors at reduced rates and visitors will be able to see and demo the latest available technologies at what is said to be Africa's largest event catering to the imaging industry.

“There are quite a few surprises in store for visitors this year as well,” Raven notes. “I'd encourage interested parties to get to www.photofilmexpo.com and register for updates about the event.”

Ravencalls on potential exhibitors to e-mail info@photofilmexpo.com to reserve space and get a full exhibitor pack.

“Massive give-aways have become a norm at the event, and visitors will be encouraged to enter photographic contests as well as lucky draws to get their hands on well over half a million rand worth of photographic gear,” Raven says.

“We're very excited about the event and look forward to seeing you all there in your masses again this year.”
