In a recent ICT audit undertaken by the Cape IT Initiative, PHP skills were highlighted as being in short supply in the Western Cape.
E-learning courses are available from Laragh Courseware to meet this need. The series of three courses meets the needs of organisations and individuals.
Developed to the highest instructional design standards, the series comprises three titles: PHP, MySQL, and PHP & MySQL on the Web.
"My immediate reaction when hearing about the skills shortage in this area was surprise," says Moira de Roche, General Manager of Laragh Skills. "We have a constant demand for these courses from the US and other countries via our e-commerce site, but the same has not been true in the South African market during the past few years. Yet this tool to develop these skills is available at a relatively low cost."
The PHP course covers PHP basics, code, functions, Web features and using databases with PHP.
The MySQL course teaches foundation skills, using MySQL and tables.
The third course - PHP & MySQL on the Web - discusses the integration of PHP with MySQL, Web security and e-commerce. The courses can be licensed individually or as a series.
The courses are modular, include module objectives and summaries, topic questions, Web resources, and scored testing; are graphically illustrated; are easily navigable; and allow bookmarking within a current session. Learners can work at their own pace in their own time, and also benefit from having the course available for refresher or remedial training, as and when required.
It`s also easy to access the courses. They can be ordered on CD for workstation or LAN delivery, or accessed online via a learning portal.
