Pink Elephant is set to become the first authorised ITIL education provider in Africa to publicly offer ITIL V3 Intermediate courses, starting this November in Johannesburg.
For ITIL V3 Foundation certified individuals, the ITIL Intermediates offer more advanced, role-based training with a focus on specific clusters of processes and functions. The benefit of these courses is that they provide a better, richer understanding of the ITIL best practices that relate to the different areas of the revised best practice framework.
Neil Petford, Regional Director for Pink Elephant Africa, comments: "We at Pink are once again pleased to be the first to bring specialist ITIL education to a market eagerly anticipating the next step in their service management development. Our local and global team has worked extremely hard to develop quality courseware for this series as well as personally achieving the qualifications necessary to deliver the ITIL V3 intermediate courses."
Pink Elephant will deliver four pilot events with customers during October in order to ensure the course meets the market expectations for quality and practicality before launching two Capability Stream and two Lifecycle Stream courses in November.
Among the first modules to be released will be Operational Support & Analysis, which focuses on Event, Incident, Request Fulfilment, Problem, and Access Management and Release, Control & Validation which focuses on Change, Release & Deployment, Validation & Testing, Service Asset & Configuration, Knowledge, Request Fulfilment, and Service Evaluation Management.
Within the Lifecycle Stream, Pink Elephant will initially launch Service Transition and Service Operations, followed by the remaining intermediate qualifications in early 2009.
"Although we will maintain ITIL V2 Practitioner and Service Manager level courses until officially retired, we believe the current confusion regarding which route to follow will be dispersed with the release of our new events, and all ITIL practitioners are more than welcome to contact our office to discuss next steps within the scheme with our consultants," adds Petford.
An ITIL Intermediate Certificate is awarded on achieving a grade of at least 70% on a 90-minute, eight-question multiple-choice exam. Successful exam candidates also qualify to receive four ITIL V3 credits per course towards the 22 required to attain the ITIL Expert qualification.
