IT Company, CSS Tirisano and broad based ICT distributor, Pinnacle Micro, have supplied a Supermicro file server to the Transnet Port Terminals in Saldanha, as well as more than 30 Proline Desktops
CSS Tirisano is a consortium partner with Pinnacle Micro on SITA contracts, including the 153 SITA server contract.
Pieter Engelbrecht Branch Manager Cape Town of CSS Tirisano Computer Company said the Transnet Port Terminals is a long-term client of the company. "We partner with Pinnacle Micro on government tenders and we are glad to see that we are now starting to move Supermicro file servers. The Supermicro file servers are starting to cause quite a stir from a price performance point of view. We anticipate that this range will make inroads into the local server market, including in the public sector."
Pinnacle Micro's national sales and marketing director, Tim Humphreys-Davies said the company made a strategic decision in the fourth quarter last year to separately brand its range of Supermicro servers. "We have invested a lot of money in this product range, including the appointment of 28 resellers, who are now spread throughout South Africa. We are now starting to bear the fruits of our efforts - and we expect robust sales from our Supermicro servers during the rest of the year."
Pinnacle Micro is part of the JSE-listed Pinnacle Technology Holdings (PTH) group. PTH notched up revenues of R1.72 billion for the year ended June 2007.
