It has been over 30 years since the dawn of personal computing, and groundbreaking developments continue to revolutionise the industry. Chris Barnes, Axiz Product Manager for HP Workstations, says now more than ever before we see pioneering technology making a fundamental impact. Among other reasons, he says the vast amount of resources invested into research and development has fuelled progress.
Barnes says market leaders are in a constant battle for the top spot as users' expectations rise. There is a consistent need for solutions that produce faster results with minimal hassle, and according to Barnes, workstations are rapidly evolving to meet these specific industry and customer requirements. “Different shapes and sizes, SFF (Small Form Factor) computer systems, rackable minitowers and CPUs that are faster are all changing the face of the workstation.”
In response to this uptake, Barnes says HP recently launched a high-end workstation designed by BMW and incorporating the latest Intel and NVIDIA innovation. “Workstations such as the HP Z800 continue to transform the industry. HP can tailor-make a workstation that delivers speed and expandability, enabling users to tackle their specific challenges without delay,” says Barnes.
Designed for broadcast and video editing, designers, engineers and 3D animation, the HP Z800 delivers maximum productivity and flexibility. Barnes rates the tool-less chassis and HP SkyRoom, enabling up to four team members to work virtually side-by-side via videoconferencing, as some of the most exciting inclusions. The HP Z800 is the ideal solution for compute intensive environments requiring high-levels of memory, storage and I/O expandability with the latest Intel dual- and quad-core Xeon processors, support for Dual 2nd Generation PCI Express x 16 and expandable I/O implementation.
HP has recognised the increased concern for minimising carbon footprints and has committed to reducing the environmental impact of computing. Barnes says HP Workstations provide an energy-efficient, conveniently recyclable and environmentally responsible solution.
“Manufacturers are under pressure to deliver new and innovative products that enable users to spend more time working, processing and designing, and less time troubleshooting. Workstations are one way in which they believe this can be achieved,” concludes Barnes.
