Europe*Star and Plenexis, Europe`s leading satellite telecoms provider for businesses and the public sector, have closed another major deal, enabling Plenexis to expand its corporate networking and Internet services.
Under the deal, Plenexis has added another transponder to its existing portfolio on Europe*Star 1. Key to choosing Europe*Star was the performance of the Europe*Star 1 satellite, which makes it particularly easy and cost-effective to transmit large quantities of data using very small satellite terminals. Like Plenexis, Europe*Star is a mid-sized company with flexible working methods and a culture of excellence.
Among the services to use this capacity will be a major new European two-way broadband solution via satellite (based on the DirecWay platform manufactured by Hughes Network Systems), which Plenexis will operate from its teleport in Hamelin.
By combining the extensive European coverage of the satellite with the new platform, Plenexis will offer superior corporate networking solutions to a wide range of business customers throughout Europe. This new telecoms solution is based on the most widely recognised and proven technology available in the market with installations in at least 85 countries. In addition to the hub, Plenexis will provide service and added values features such as WLAN. The cost is highly competitive with terrestrial solutions.
Kai Lauterjung, Managing Director Plenexis Group, said: "We are happy to grow our long-term relationship with Europe*Star by the lease of the Europe*Star transponder. The ideal combination of Europe*Star transponder with the new 'DirecWay` technology from Hughes means we can offer high quality solutions at a much lower cost to all our customers throughout Europe. The new solution will also deliver cost and operational advantages over the terrestrial equivalent."
David Ch'egnion, Europe*Star`s General Manager, added: "We are obviously delighted to expand our business and further the relationship with this major player in satellite services. In addition, this deal marks another significant milestone in developing our presence within the strategically important European marketplace."
