Fujitsu Siemens Computers is extending the scope of its Business-Critical Computing solution "PRIMECLUSTER Enterprise Server for mySAP Solutions" to include the midrange market, as users from this sector are increasingly making use of SAP solutions and consequently creating a growing demand for appropriate cluster solutions.
Previously, this solution has only been available on the basis of Solaris/SPARC-based PRIMEPOWER high-end models and Symmetrix storage systems. By integrating the PRIMEPOWER 650 and 850 models and the storage systems of the FibreCAT`O family, the computer company now also offers particularly attractively priced alternatives for the midrange market. This solution halves the project completion time, which in turn dramatically reduces investment costs for the user.
The enormous complexity of IT infrastructures today means that one of the greatest challenges in implementing successful cluster projects is the creation of optimal hardware concepts and the error-free realization of these concepts. Problems in this area can frequently lead to long project terms and even delays in productive roll-out.
Fujitsu Siemens Computers has responded to this challenge by testing and defining standard configurations for mySAP.com solutions based on the PRIMECLUSTER product suite, various PRIMEPOWER models as well as Symmetrix and FibreCAT systems. The definition covers well-honed concepts for areas such as disaster recovery, data backup, network infrastructure and a SAN-based I/O subsystem, all the way through to concrete cabling proposals. Extensive full-system tests have been carried out, taking due account of installation and configuration as well as failure and disaster test scenarios. This also involved optimisation of the individual modules. The integration activities are rounded off by a tailored, and nevertheless standardised range of services, as well as pre-installation of the configuration at the factory.
The result is a fully integrated, standardised and validated end-to-end solution: "PRIMECLUSTER Enterprise Server for mySAP Solutions". Using this comprehensive, completely consistent configuration reduces the length of the installation and implementation phase by up to 50%; the user effectively just has to "plug-and-play" to start up. This significantly reduces investment costs. Furthermore, users profit from the highest possible availability of their SAP production system, since every conceivable failure scenario has already been taken into consideration in the context of the system tests and downtime is also avoided in the context of configuration extensions.
PRIMECLUSTER provides an extensive suite of cluster products for the whole range of enterprise-wide applications to prevent failures or malfunctions from occurring in the IT infrastructure and thus eliminating serious or even fatal results. Oriented strategically towards Mobility and Business Critical Computing, Fujitsu Siemens Computers` offering not only comprises an outstanding portfolio of products, but also provides fully integrated end-to-end solutions.
