PM software gains momentum

Software that manages corporate projects over the Internet is gaining momentum, leading software start-ups from around the world to relocate to the US, reports Red Herring.

Clarizen, an Israeli software start-up, moved to Silicon Valley earlier this month to tap into the growing demand for project management (PM) software. "Being close to the market is not only a statement, it's something that you need to commit to do," said CEO Avinoam Nowogrodski.

According to research firm Gartner, the project management market is worth $750 million a year worldwide and is growing 11% annually.

PM enters Web

Jason Fried, owner of Chicago-based Web applications company, 37signals, predicts an eventual move away from desktop PM applications to the Internet, reports Silicon Republic.

This move seems entirely possible in light of the recent uptake of online office suites like Google Apps, Zoho Office and 37signals' own suite of Web-based productivity tools.

Fried explains that being online allows workers to keep information up to date, because everyone knows what the latest information is without having to ask around the office. The company's collaboration and PM tool is BaseCamp.

Easy Project upgrades

Logic Software has released Easy Project .NET version 5.0, a major update to an all-in-one Web-based project management software application, reports Programmers Heaven.

A new release of Web-based project management software was designed from the ground up to finally make project management easy to use.

The new version was re-written using AJAX Web 2.0 technologies to further enhance ease of use and add several new features, and is intended to make it faster and more stable.
