Porsche BlackBerry gets NFC

Research In Motion (RIM) has unveiled the Porsche Design BlackBerry P9981, which comes with a near field communications (NFC) chip for users to make contactless payments, The Telegraph reports.

Smartphone buyers interested in purchasing the Porsche Design BlackBerry will have to fork out between £1 275 and £2 000 for the device, available exclusively from Harrods.

Digital Trends says the P9981 has a 1.2GHz processor, 768MB RAM, a 2.8-inch 640 x 480 resolution touch-screen and a 5MP camera with 720p video recording.

BlackBerry OS 7 has been treated to a Porsche Design makeover, too, as it uses a custom user interface and has augmented reality app, Wikitude World Browser, pre-installed.

According to Mobot, the BlackBerry Porsche Design P9981 is a really fancy BlackBerry Bold Touch 9900.

It has the same functionality on the inside as the Bold Touch 990, but the external casing is made from stainless steel and real leather.
