Powercom line interactive power backup protects valuable IT assets

Johannesburg, 26 Jul 2004

Powercom, a leading UPS manufacturer, has introduced its` Black Knight PRO series of line interactive power backup solutions for small servers, workstations and PCs to the South African marketplace.

Available from the company`s official local distributor Rectron, the series, which includes the BNT-800AP, BNT-600AP and BNT-400AP, offers users` short circuit and overload protection as well as critical lightning and surge protection.

With line interactive UPSs, the input voltage is continuously filtered to eliminate any strong disturbances that might be harmful to equipment.

"In today`s competitive, always-on IT environments, it is critical that companies` valuable assets are always protected against power supply volatility," comments Christopher Coetzee, Powercom product manager at Rectron.

"Powercom`s Black Knight PRO series not only offers smart design and reliability, but overcomes key power problems such as disconnection, overload, interference and sudden high/low voltage."

The series, for example, features AVR (Auto Voltage Regulation) as well as an energy saving function, while at the same time enabling power management tasks through the fully digitised microprocessor control option.

In addition, users can utilise the unit`s free bundled software to schedule shutdown, record power failure history and display basic parameters such as input/output voltage.

Other features include:

* Advanced battery management (ABM technology);
* Cold start function;
* 50/60Hz frequency auto sensing and selection; and
* Internet surge suppression.
