Praxis Computing today announced that it had been contracted by the Public Finance Services Agency (PFSA) to undertake the analysis and design phases for a system that will sit at the core of the ERP suite for the organisation.
The PFSA is a strategic initiative between the Eastern Cape Provincial Treasury (ECPT) and the University of Fort Hare (UFC) whose objectives are to increase the level of financial skills across the Eastern Cape Provincial Government departments. It has already provided in excess of 1 500 learners with some form of training intervention, designed around the financial management needs of the ECPG, and commenced with its Certificate in Public Financial Management and Diploma in Public Accounting programmes.
"The PFSA is the first of its kind, in that it provides quality, relevant, customised and practical solutions that address the financial skills needs of Provincial Government, a move that is fundamental in the pursuit of good governance within that organisation," commented Zandile Ndlovu, the Director of the PFSA. "We handle numerous types of short courses, certification programmes and accredited diploma learnerships on the one hand, but on the other hand, we need to ensure the proper accountability of the input funds that we handle.
"Not surprisingly, we need an appropriate system to handle these and many of the other issues with which we are involved but, unfortunately, there is no system available that matches our requirements," continued Ndlovu. "The choice of Praxis Computing and their specific knowledge of the public sector coupled with their experience of `SETA` activities and procedures made them a natural choice for the initial phases of this project."
"This is an extremely exciting initiative and we are delighted to be involved," added Nicholas Chetwin, Finance Director of Praxis Computing. "The establishment of the PFSA was a bold step and one to be applauded. From our experience to date we are confident that the outcomes of this initiative will be very positive for all the parties involved. Our challenge is to design a system which caters for the necessary administrative intensity, but at the same time provides the strategic information to enable the agency to be responsive to their client`s needs."
