MTN will give free airtime to new prepaid customers.
Other benefits include 10 free daily call-backs, five free SMSes for every 15 SMSes sent, and 30 free SMSes per month.
“The R120 free airtime is spread over 12 months; therefore, the customer receives R10 per month. In order to get the R10 airtime, the customer is required to recharge with a minimum (non-cumulative) of R60 per month. This offer is valid for a year from purchase. If a customer migrates out of this price plan any time within the 12 months, they will lose this benefit,” says MTN.
MTN SA chief marketing officer Serame Taukobong says the promotion, which is open from 1 December 2011 to 20 May 2012, was introduced to give customers a festive season windfall.
As at 30 September, MTN had a subscriber base of 20.968 million users, 17.28 million of whom were on the prepaid option.
