Pretoria law firm ensures Y2K compliance

Johannesburg, 17 Aug 1999

Tim du Toit & Co, a Pretoria firm established in 1933, has contracted Dimension Networking to upgrade its IT infrastructure in its offices in Pretoria, Johannesburg, Menlyn and Centurion. The new network will ensure Year 2000 , and increase efficiency and productivity.

"We were using PCs, which were not millennium compliant, and for which we could no longer source parts," says Jana Kleyn, the law firm`s network administrator. "We also needed to upgrade our systems to run new applications for the work we do for our major client, ABSA."

The deal involves the supply of networking, cabling, and 78 Compaq PCs and servers, which will be installed following the company`s imminent move into new offices in Lynnwood. "We chose Dimension Data Networking as our supplier after evaluating a number of companies. We believe we have chosen the company best able to meet our requirements in all the different areas," says Kleyn. "The new infrastructure will enable staff to work faster, and the new machines will be far more user-friendly. We were impressed by the quality and early warning management features of the Compaq machines."
