PRIMERGY, Network Appliance Filer prove conformity to SAP Adaptive Computing

Johannesburg, 17 May 2004

Fujitsu Siemens Computers today announced that it is the first SAP Global Technology Partner worldwide to pass the "SAP Adaptive Computing Compliance Test", proving that the IT infrastructure of Fujitsu Siemens Computers is in functional conformance with SAP`s Adaptive Computing capabilities, as well as the procedures defined by SAP`s Adaptive Computing Council.

The solution consists of Intel-based PRIMERGY servers, delivered by Fujitsu Siemens Computers, the leading European IT Infrastructure company, and network-attached storage filer from Network Appliance. The official document of the Adaptive Computing Compliance Test can be found at http://service.sap.com/adaptive.

To accompany the announcement of the availability of SAP`s Adaptive Computing Controller, Fujitsu Siemens Computers announced it will use this controller within their adaptive IT infrastructure solution FlexFrame for mySAPTM Business Suite, the first IT infrastructure realisation of SAP`s Adaptive Computing Infrastructure.

FlexFrame for mySAP Business Suite, enabled by SAP NetWeaver, SAP`s open integration and application platform has been developed with and supported by SAP`s Global Partners Technology, Fujitsu Siemens Computers and Network Appliance. Not only is FlexFrame for mySAP Business Suite the first realisation of SAP`s Adaptive Computing capabilities, it has been in infrastructure implementation phase for over a year with more than 20 customer implementations.

Dr Joseph Reger, Chief Technology Officer of Fujitsu Siemens Computers, explains: "It is our clear objective to stay the innovator for IT infrastructures in the area of SAP Adaptive Computing. We strive to align our IT infrastructure offering with SAP Adaptive Computing capabilities. For those customers that have already decided on FlexFrame for mySAP Business Suite, the successfully passed "Adaptive Computing Compliance Test" means doubled security. This solution offers long-term investment protection as it is based on a concept of SAP that will be rolled out to all technology partners, and which will continue to be innovatively driven by Fujitsu Siemens Computers."

"One year after successfully demonstrating the proof of concept with Fujitsu Siemens Computers, SAP's Adaptive Computing capability - an important element of SAP NetWeaver, SAP`s open integration - and application platform - will be available for customers, states Bernd Lober, vice-president, Adaptive Computing, SAP AG.

"For them the successfully passed 'SAP Adaptive Computing Compliance Test` confirms the IT-Infrastructure solution of Fujitsu Siemens Computers and is another step towards the reduction of operating costs."

FlexFrame for mySAP Business Suite - background

FlexFrame for my SAP Business Suite is the IT Infrastructure realisation of SAP Adaptive Computing capabilities and a joint project of the technology partners Fujitsu Siemens Computers and Network Appliance. The total cost of ownership (TCO) of the entire IT-landscape can be significantly lowered by reduced efforts for company internal integration. With this, companies are enabled to pursue a growth strategy and to adapt to changes in their business environment.

SAP`s Adaptive Computing capability and its IT infrastructure realisation with FlexFrame for mySAP Business Suite aims in analogy on significant higher flexibility at the IT infrastructure side to ease the implementation and operation of business applications and to reduce operating costs. These improved results are realised through a full virtualisation of SAP applications and the separation of those services from the infrastructure resources computing, network, storage and control/system management. Those infrastructure resources are delivered by following innovative principles of autonomous systems with features such as virtualisation and automatic provisioning.
