Printacom launches compact Oki desktop lasers

Johannesburg, 16 Apr 2003

Hot on the heals of its ground-breaking Oki single-pass colour laser printer launch, Printacom has announced the availability of Oki`s latest range of monochrome printers, the B4000 series.

"Oki`s B4000 series of lasers is a powerful, yet compact high-speed monochrome desktop printer range replacing the award-winning Okipage 14 Series," says Neil Rom, MD of Printacom. "The 4000s are available in two base models and despite their compact size, boast cost-effective print speeds of 18 pages per minute, meeting users` ever-more complex printing demands."

Designed for individuals requiring greater productivity on the desktop, both models sport fast time to first page and are ideal for home, small office or corporate use. "Both printers will suit a broad range of applications where space is at a premium or enhanced performance is required," Rom continues.

The B4200 is targeted at the individual user. With a resolution of 600 x 1200dpi, it produces clean, crisp business documents. As a standard feature, the B4200 is equipped with 8MB of memory and a 250-sheet enclosed paper tray.

The low cost 2500 sheet toner cartridges are separate from the image drum, ensuring the B4200 is affordable and offers one of the most economical cost-per-page laser printing solutions on the market.

The B4300 has been designed for multi-user environments. It can be fitted with an internal network card, which, combined with the printer`s 200MHz processor enables it to efficiently service a small workgroup. Additionally, it offers an operator panel for easy printer control and comes with 16MB of memory as standard. It can also be upgraded with a 10/100BaseTX Ethernet network card or PostScript SIMM for complete corporate compatibility.

The B4300 expects to see higher usage and is therefore equipped with either a 2 500-page standard toner cartridge or a longer life 6 000-page cartridge to keep consumables costs to a minimum.

Both models can also be fitted with additional optional paper trays or envelopes to suit their application. Rom concludes: "Oki`s B4000 series mono printers offer superb value for money with regard to features provided in relationship to cost. More importantly, they offer a robust, compact solution that is configurable to the needs of the desktop user, but with all the features of more expensive models in the same speed range."
