Prism TranSwitch Services (PTSS) - the electronic funds transfer and bill payment processing services company within the JSE-listed Prism Holdings group - has not experienced any downtime since becoming one of the first in South Africa to purchase STRATUS Technology`s fault-tolerant FT Server 5200 through Intrinsic, the authorised reseller.
Processing millions of transactions per month, PTSS required a server with built in hardware resilience and running Windows 2000 as the company was upgrading to Mosaic Software`s Postilion 4.1.
According to Raymond Croxford, Head of Operations PTSS, the benefits of the server are numerous, the most important of which is to guarantee that down-time will not exceed five minutes per year.
"This level of service is crucial when offering switching services to some of the largest retail and petroleum companies in South Africa," he says.
The server also processes PTSS`s EasyPay bill payment and prepaid service, switching transactions between the banks, retail payment points and receivers of the payment.
"The server has more than met our expectations from a reliability point of view. We were particularly pleased with the way it handled the load during exceptionally busy periods when transaction volumes peak. We are proud to have the FT Server 5200 as part of our family and look forward to all it has to offer on fault-tolerant processing," Croxford concludes.
