JSE-listed Prism Holdings, the secure electronic payments company, has entered into a contract to supply one million stored-value telephone cards, destined for Swaziland Posts & Telecommunications Corporation. (SPTC). The company has already received the first firm order for 500 000 cards in terms of this contract.
The stored-value telephone cards are being sold to local consumers, for use in SPTC`s payphones.
Chris Dewe, consumer devices channel director at Prism, says production of the cards is well under way at Prism`s smart card manufacturing facility in Springs. The first half of the order is to be delivered in March, while the balance will be supplied later in the year.
"Prism has long supplied stored-value phone cards to meet the needs of various telcos in Africa. This order, on behalf of Swaziland`s telecommunication supplier, is indicative of the continued strength of this relationship," he concludes.
