ProCurve in 'Leaders' quadrant

ProCurve Networking by HP has been positioned in the "Leaders" quadrant in industry analyst firm Gartner's Global Campus LAN Magic Quadrant 2008, states FOX Business.

According to the Gartner report: "A leader has demonstrated a sustained ability to meet the changing needs for mainstream LAN switching architectures. A leader also has an ability to shape the market and maintain strong relationships with its channels and customers, and has no major gaps in the portfolio."

"We consider our positioning in the networking Leaders quadrant by Gartner confirmation of ProCurve's evolution from a viable industry alternative into an industry leader," said John McHugh, VP and GM, ProCurve Networking by HP.

SsangYong Motor Company has selected SMSC's Media Oriented Systems Transport (MOST) oPHY networking technology as part of the infotainment system for its Chairman W vehicle platform, reports FOX Business.

It is expected that MOST will be designed into additional platforms with SsangYong beyond this model.

MOST is used today in over 55 car platforms for various worldwide manufacturers and serves as the communication backbone for their information and entertainment equipment.

Xtellus, a supplier of scalable wavelength selective switches (WSS) for reconfigurable optical networks, has raised $8.3 million in growth capital, states EETimes.

Led by a new investor, the Swiss VC fund NanoDimension Limited Partnership, the round also includes Xtellus's existing investors Alta Berkeley Venture Partners, Goldman Ventures and Israel Seed IV LP.

The company said it will use the funds to further expand its WSS product lines and manufacturing facilities to meet rapidly growing customer demand fueled by the accelerating deployment of ROADM devices.
