Professor Dave Ulrich delivers to a packed house

By Anti-Clockwise
Johannesburg, 13 Aug 2007

Global Leaders and partner SAS Institute speaker, and world-renowned human resources and business consultant, Professor Dave Ulrich, delivered Next-Generation Human Resources to a capacity audience on 8 August 2007, at The Forum at The Campus in Bryanston, Johannesburg.

A dynamic speaker with a long and impressive list of qualifications and accolades to his name, Ulrich has been visiting South Africa to share his wealth of knowledge for the past 10 years, helping those in HR and related activities to benefit from his years of teaching and consulting experience.

Ulrich has published more than 10 books on business, HR and leadership, and most recently was ranked first in HR Magazine's 'HR Top 100: Most Influential Thought Leaders'. Before that he has been ranked by Business Week as the world's top management educator, and as the number two consultant by Executive Excellence.

One of the key messages delivered by Ulrich was the need for emerging economies to gain the ability to create value through HR; and to understand the evolution of human resources to become the centre of a thriving and mature economy.

According to Ulrich, future economies will be, and are in fact starting to be, centred on service and knowledge resources, as opposed to the current mineral and natural resources focus, and as such, countries need to embrace the 'next generation' of human resources.

"SAS delivers the message of using knowledge and innovation to gain the elusive competitive advantage. Professor Ulrich's key discussions resonate strongly with this, his ideas of creating value, thinking differently and working smarter highlight the mantra of innovating for competitive differentiation," says Warren Cowan, Product and Marketing Director of SAS Institute South Africa, the official Knowledge Partner of Global Leaders Africa.

Global Leaders Africa brings to South Africa global thought leaders and world-renowned speakers to spread knowledge. As part of the 2007 programmes, Global Leaders will be bringing Scott Bedbury, the marketing genius of Starbucks and Nike, to Johannesburg, to present on "Brand building and marketing strategy for now to 2010".
