Project 2000: CA sponsors SA Project Management Forum

By Computer Associates Africa
Johannesburg, 21 Jul 2000

Computer Associates Africa (CA) has announced that it is to sponsor Project 2000, the annual South African Project Management Forum, which is scheduled to take place in Johannesburg from 31 July to 2 August 2000.

Project 2000 will feature presentations and dissertations from leaders in the field of project management, including case studies and workshops to enhance the skills of project management professionals.

Raoul Hunter, business technology manager at CA, notes that any professional involved in project management stands to benefit greatly from attending Project 2000. "By exposure to peers in the industry as well as learning from the experience of the presenters on each topic, delegates stand to gain significant knowledge from this event," he says.

Hunter reveals that several speakers from CA will be presenting at the forum. "CA will be focusing on best practices for project management and methods of ensuring that knowledge gained from previous successful projects can be retained for future use," he says. Hunter observes that it is critical that this knowledge is stored in a repository to facilitate future use - even if the project manager responsible is no longer available.

"CA Process Continuum provides an unprecedented breadth and depth of integrated process and project management functionality to enable organizations to plan, estimate, schedule, build, report on, and a diverse portfolio of projects across the enterprise-all based on a world-class library of industry best practices," says Mark Forster of CA. Delegates attending Project 2000 will be exposed to PC as a method of transferring project management from relying solely on human experience to a solution for best practices retention, adds Forster.

Lyne Burger, business development manager for Project 2000 organiser Institute for International Research SA, declares that Project 2000 offers a unique platform for a major topical concern in the business climate of the day. "This powerful event is not to be missed by project management professionals looking to extend the scope and capacity of tools available to enable effective solutions," she says.
