ProScan forms separate media business ProScan Systems announced today the formation of a new sister company called ProScan Media Products to focus on providing a total barcode printing solution to the data collection industry in southern Africa.
ProScan Systems` core focus will remain the import, distribution and support of a wide range of data collection, barcode, RFID, wireless networking and mobile hardware and technologies through a network of accredited channel partners. ProScan Media Products will focus on the local production and supply of original equipment manufacture (OEM) barcode self-adhesive labels and thermal transfer ribbons through its channel partners.
Andrew Fosbrook, Managing Director of ProScan, comments: "The division of our business into two separate units is a result of our rapid expansion over the last 12 months to become one of the leading players in SA of data collection technologies. Separate business units will allow us to concentrate on growing both these businesses in a structured way in the marketplace.
"ProScan Media Products will handle the consumable side of the business, where there is an increasing demand for quality, but locally produced price-competitive barcode labels and ribbons."
Fosbrook adds: "Although both business units are complementary, the sales and marketing approach of each business differs substantially. The consumables is a faster turnaround business with more focus on sales and less on marketing. The hardware and technologies distribution side has a longer sales cycle, requiring market education and the training of skilled channel partners to implement customised data collection solutions."
