ProScan Systems, a leader in barcoding and data automation technologies, recently introduced the Intermec CK30, a new rugged handheld computer designed as the ideal bridge between technologies that mobile data collection users are employing today and what they will need in the future.
The CK30 mobile data collection terminal continues the Intermec tradition of delivering rugged, reliable computing devices and incorporates advanced communications features that include an 802.11b/g radio for data rates of up to 54Mbps, integrated Bluetooth technology for wireless printing, and imaging and colour display options. The CK30`s capability to perform legacy applications through terminal emulation allows mobile data collection users to seamlessly migrate their technology, protecting their investment into the future.
The CK30, based on the Microsoft Windows CE operating system, has an Intel XScale processor, running up to 400MHz. It provides 802.1x security, WiFi Protected Access and is 802.11i ready, ensuring consistent performance by providing the best available wireless network throughput and reliability. In addition, through deployment on the Microsoft .NET Compact Framework, the CK30 allows users to share applications across devices.
Andrew Fosbrook, Managing Director of ProScan, comments: "Intermec`s newest rugged handheld brings all the utilities and resources available through the .NET Compact Framework to users in diverse environments. Intermec users can then optimise data collection capabilities and leverage next- generation development tools for the mobile user."
The device offers new linear imagers that deliver reliability and ideal scanning capabilities for arm`s length scanning applications. Users are able to select laser scanners for either standard range or long-range applications, depending on preferences or usage requirements. An area imager option also supports 2D symbologies, and users can attach tethered scanners for additional ergonomic flexibility. Three distinct keypad options - ranging from 42-key to a full 52-key alphanumeric keyboard - offer layouts for applications that range from the warehouse floor to the retail storefront.
The CK30 is lightweight and well-balanced, reducing user stress and fatigue during extended work sessions. Its sculpted back case is shaped to comfortably accommodate any hand size, and an optional pistol grip handle is ideal for highly repetitive scanning situations.
"The CK30 allows users to trade up without making any trade offs," added Fosbrook.
