All the delegates at SAPICS Annual Conference 2005 will wear a radio frequency identification (RFID) enabled nametag to facilitate smooth access control at the conference at Sun City from 6 to 8 June.
ProScan Systems will provide the hardware to run this live RFID application, in partnership with Cisco System, which will supply the wireless network, and Microsoft, responsible for the software program.
The RFID tag is encapsulated at the back of the nametag, and according to ProScan`s Managing Director, Andrew Fosbrook, will be almost invisible to the visitor.
"The RFID system will track the movement of delegates in and out of the auditorium using our Intermec IP3 Intellitag RFID-enabled readers, and provide a non-intrusive access control system, demonstrating the benefits of this technology," says Fosbrook.
Visitors can visit the dedicated RFID exhibit at Stand A27, where ProScan, Cisco and Microsoft partner to showcase RFID hardware, networking and software capabilities.
In addition to the RFID exhibit, ProScan will exhibit its latest range of barcoding, data automation, wireless networking and mobile technologies at Stand A4 at SAPICS, which highlights the compact, lightweight, user-friendly and versatile product range that is integral to the successful operation of a supply chain.
