ProScan announced the introduction of the first in a series of new mid-range (M) industrial thermal transfer printers that combine performance at cost-effective prices.
The new Datamax M4206 offers a suite of powerful features intended to address the needs of new users of barcoding technology, as well as users who have old thermal and thermal transfer printers that need replacement.
Andrew Fosbrook, Managing Director of ProScan, preferred value-added distributor for Datamax printers in southern Africa, comments: "Thermal printing for barcodes and labels has transcended traditional industrial and manufacturing surroundings. Increasingly, there is a need for a small, compact industrial performance printer that is suitable for applications such as hospitals, pharmacies, shipping, product labelling, postal services, asset tracking, small business and inventory control. The M4206`s performance exceeds the requirements of these various applications and is positioned to help our partners address those user requirements."
The M-4206 incorporates a cantilever printhead assembly that allows an operator to change media in less than one minute. All of the printer components are fastened with a standardised screw and options can be added with a single screwdriver. The award-winning modular, die-cast aluminium chassis, a hallmark of Datamax printers, increases the unit`s durability, while minimising the time required to add or remove printer options, increasing uptime.
The M-4206 offers numerous connectivity options, including an RS-232 serial interface, an IEEE 1284 -compliant parallel interface, and a USB port. The printer`s parallel port can accommodate an external Ethernet connection. The M-4206 standard configuration provides 2MB of flash downloadable memory and 4MB of DRAM memory. Users can choose from a selection of options, including thermal transfer, present or peel and present sensors, cutter, and internal rewinder.
