Sun Microsystems SA and the company's official local channel development partner, Orcom, are enabling companies to seamlessly and cost-effectively trade-in and upgrade their current computing infrastructures at three times the normal discount.
Through Sun's Upgrade Allowance Programe, enterprises can trade in any E2, E220, E250 or E450 server and upgrade to any 2-way Sun Fire 280R, 4-way Sun Fire 480 or 4-way Sun Fire V880 at 18% discount.
According to Daryl Blundell, sales solutions manager at Sun Microsystems SA, the programme enables companies to utilise the latest technology, while protecting their capital investment.
"You may be spending more on maintaining your current infrastructure than it would cost to upgrade to, for example, the Sun Fire V880, which features the latest UltraSPARC III processor technology."
There is no limit to the number of servers businesses can trade-in. However, the ratio is one to one, namely one old server for one new server.
Another prerequisite is that the trade-in server must be a bootable server and returned to the authorised Sun reseller from whom the new server was purchased, within 60 days of the purchase date.
And through RentWorks, Sun's Authorised Finance Leasing Partner, companies can also finance their total solution needs. RentWorks enables companies to reap the benefits of fixed payments for a term; pay only for what they use; or take advantage of the sell and rent back option, where companies can sell existing technology back and then rent newer Sun systems.
The Sun Fire server range features binary compatibility, Solaris 9 Operating Environment (OE), built-in high speed networking, high performance UltraSPARC III processing, is rack optimised and has a three-year warrantee.
"Through our Upgrade Allowance Programme, companies can enjoy the midrame technologies of the Sun Fire range at entry level pricing," comments Blundell.
This promotion is valid until 31 January 2003. Other server brands can also be upgraded at the standard 6% discount.
