Protek reinvents new generation technology

Johannesburg, 04 Oct 2002

Communications service providers now have access to a complete Business and Operational Support System (BSS/OSS) that is able to scale for new generation networks, thanks to today`s launch of Protek`s `nexoss`.

As a `living` solution, nexoss is designed to grow along with the provider`s business. Developed as a result of extensive customer research, nexoss joins together Protek`s existing five discrete products (Customer Care and Billing, Mediation, Service Provisioning, Network Security and Network Management) and explodes these into 25 different modules.

Each of these can then be combined with an appropriate mix of others to provide a tailored BSS/OSS solution encompassing Customer Care and Billing, Real-Time Inventory, Flow-Through Provisioning, Network Management, SLA Management, CRM, Revenue Assurance, Workflow or Mediation.

"Demonstrating its flexibility, nexoss can be provided either as a complete, end-to-end solution or as a modular system to be integrated with other vendors` solutions," commented Paul Beaumont, CEO, Protek.

"In order to provide our customers with a competitive-edge, nexoss offers the best and fastest return on investment in the industry, with a complete CCB solution costing as little as 60c per subscriber. In the current volatile telecommunications climate, it is increasingly important to demonstrate an ever faster ROI to support business efforts."

With a powerful and intuitive user interface, nexoss is easy to use. Many of the elements and core features of Protek`s existing products have been retained and reengineered into a CORBA architecture, thereby reducing customer development costs and increasing scalability of the solution for new generation networks. Powerful new features include Real-Time Inventory and Flow-Through Provisioning. Pre-integrated modules are available offering communications service providers rapid deployment timescales, ensuring faster time to market and therefore accelerating revenue and positive cash flow.

Beaumont concluded: "We take great pride in the fact that Protek is one of the only BSS/OSS vendors able to provide a solution that can meet the current and future needs of communications service providers, especially with the forthcoming emergence of 3G and other new technologies. The next 12 months is going to be a very exciting time for all involved."
