interBiz, the eBusiness applications division of Computer Associates International, Inc. (CA) has announced at CA World 2000 that PSINet, the world`s largest independent Internet service provider (ISP) to the corporate marketplace, has chosen interBiz`s Masterpiece/Net financial management solution to support its expansion in Brazil, Argentina, Chile, Panama and Mexico.
Automating processes is an essential component of PSINet`s strategy to strengthen the company`s presence in the region. "PSINet is in the process of integrating the operations of seven recently acquired Brazilian providers and ten others from Latin America," says Claudio Pecorari, president of PSINet. "We believe Masterpiece/Net is a critical element to a successful consolidation and the ongoing management of our growth."
This growth is exemplified by the Brazilian acquisitions of STI, OpenLink, Domain, ServeNet, TBA, Horizonte and Correio Net. PSINet underwent an extensive search for the financial management solution that would accommodate their predetermined and very specific needs. First, the ISP required a fully Web-enabled solution in order to provide its employees secure and full functional access to the system using a Web browser. PSINet also needed a tool that had already been translated into Portuguese and Spanish and would comply with the United States Generally Accepted Accounting Principles, a standard accounting system used by American companies. Finally, the company needed full training and support services in each Latin American country where PSINet operates.
While other vendors were considered, interBiz was the only one to meet all of PSINet`s criteria. "Masterpiece/Net provides PSINet woth complete command and control of their financial operations," says Celso Tome- Rosa, senior vice president, interBiz Latin America. "With interBiz, PSINet is reassured that their current and future business growth will be supported and successfully managed in the new eBusiness environment," Tome-Rosa adds.
Masterpiece/Net will manage all of PSINet`s financial and accounting data in Latin America. Every operation, module and system connected to Masterpiece/Net, including the company Intranet, will be updated in real-time. "The management capacity and the agility of information that we acquired with the adoption of Masterpiece/Net will make our routine faster and simpler, freeing us to focus on strategic activities," says Klaus Cristian Ehmke, chief financial officer, PSINet.
Masterpiece/Net will be available to direct and indirect users in Brazil, Argentina, Mexico, Panama, Uruguay and Chile.
