Psion Teklogix, a global provider of solutions for mobile computing, wireless data collection and RFID, today unveiled the 7530, an ultra-rugged, Windows CE .NET-based handheld computer for the cold chain and extreme logistics environments. Continuing to expand its mobile computing device portfolio, the 7530 is Psion Teklogix`s fourth handheld built on its next-generation platform. It follows the earlier launch of the 7535, NETBOOK PRO and WORKABOUT PRO.
The 7530 is designed to meet customers` needs for a powerful handheld computer capable of displaying client/server, Web and enterprise resources while operating in the most intense and cold environments. The extreme ruggedness, flexibility, integration capabilities and ergonomics make the 7530 an ideal mobile computing device for freezers, ports and container yards, and wide-area mobile computing applications.
While most devices fail when placed in freezing and condensing environments, the 7530, with its IP 67 and 5-96% RH condensing ratings, can operate at temperatures as low as -30^0 C and withstand multiple drops to concrete from 2m. Customers in the cold chain can also leverage the unique frost-free scanner option to ensure maximum device uptime and worker productivity.
"Customers with data collection needs in extreme environments, such as freezer warehouses, require a device with class-leading ruggedness to ensure maximum productive uptime. Built on our next-generation platform, the launch of the 7530 further reinforces our commitment to developing new devices that meet our customers` evolving needs," said Thierry Beclin, director of product management and marketing, Psion Teklogix. "By expanding our handheld portfolio with the 7530, we will be able to strengthen our position in the worldwide handheld market which is expected to reach $1.744 million in 2008*."
The 7530 is designed to integrate with existing infrastructures and is backward compatible with the 7030. For customers who leverage narrow band radio technology, the 7530 can be equipped with the Psion Teklogix new "Digital" Narrowband radio. This compact and lightweight digital 403-512MHz radio maximises battery life, signal clarity, persistence and gives the 7530 extended range coverage. Therefore, customers can easily add the 7530 to an existing 7030 deployment or operate in a mixed environment and begin migrating from narrowband to 802.11a/b/g.
The 7530 is the next evolution of Psion Teklogix` Windows CE .NET-based handheld family of computers. When teamed with the 7535 and WORKABOUT PRO, customers have the power to choose the handheld device that best fits their needs. Further, the extended CE .NET device family that includes the 8525 vehicle mount computer and NETBOOK PRO give customers the capability to deploy their application across multiple form factors with minimal development effort. The 7530, like all Psion Teklogix CE .NET devices, provides customers with Intel XScale processors, 802.11 technologies, WAN capabilities Bluetooth, RFID and SNMP. The 7530 can be used in batch, WLAN or WWAN implementations.
The 7530 is available this fall in North America, Europe and Asia from Psion Teklogix`s sales offices, distributors and value-added resellers.
