Unisys Corporation today announced that it has delivered a turnkey Wireless Application Protocol (WAP) solution based on Unisys e-@ction Value Added Services Solutions to leading Polish mobile communications operator PTK Centertel. PTK Centertel is the first customer to benefit from the recent Unisys agreement with Phone.com, and will utilize Phone.com`s UP.Link Server Suite, which gives network operators the ability to support the broadest selection of wireless Internet applications available.
Centertel has gone live with delivery of new wireless Internet service offerings to its mobile customers, after the successful and speedy implementation of the WAP-based infrastructure, WAP platform and applications and associated professional services from Unisys. For the first time, PTK Centertel mobile subscribers will have the potential to access Internet and corporate Intranet-based telephony services including e-mail, news, stocks, weather, travel and sports via their wireless devices. The Centertel solution is further evidence that WAP-based services are moving into all markets, and not just confined to specific regions.
