If you are a fan of good sports games, then Electronic Arts` FIFA 2004 is a must-have for your collection.
Unfortunately, the menu is not very user-friendly but the amount of game modes and the funky soundtrack more than make up for it.
For one, there is a nicely designed training mode that somehow got left out in FIFA 2003. This mode allows you to fine-tune your free kicks, corners and play in practise games. These practise games are played in proper training facilities and have some nice details, like the background noise of the cars passing by, coach`s instructions and the training jerseys that are worn by the players.
FIFA 2004 includes everything from the management of a team through to the actual game. Once you choose your team`s jerseys (home, away or alternate) the amazing graphical display comes to the fore. Players come out of the tunnel in a most realistic manner, talking to each other. What is more, each player looks like his real-life counterpart.
The game play makes for much easier passing, but it is also easier for the ball to get intercepted by the opposing team. Also, unlike in previous versions, FIFA 2004 requires you to play a much more passing game.
It is all about thinking strategically and figuring out a thousand different ways to put the ball into the back of the net. Shooting has also improved, especially when it comes to those long crosses players hate so much.
Unfortunately, there is a negative side to FIFA 2004. Some countries` leagues feature divisions as low as the third division, while other leagues have not even been included in the game. Overall though, FIFA 2004 is another hot title from EA Sports.
So get your fingers warmed up, get your kit on and hit those controllers.
