QAD has announced the latest version of its flagship enterprise software, QAD Global Enterprise Edition (GXE), which delivers vital capabilities for global functions, while minimising the business and IT complexity, characteristic of managing a multinational manufacturing enterprise.
An innovative, service-oriented technology architecture (SOA) and new capabilities for streamlined management of multiple business entities make QAD GXE a comprehensive enterprise platform. It enables multinational manufacturers to operate in a shared services environment, comply with regulatory and governance requirements in the major regions of the world and sustain flexibility in each unique plant for successful local operations.
With this latest release, the QAD enterprise platform empowers customers to manage their global operations centrally or in a decentralised manner, depending upon business processes. Key to this flexibility is QAD GXE`s capacity for the creation of "domains", representing individual business entities within a single database. Each domain can have a different base currency, chart of accounts, as well as different configurations for manufacturing, distribution, services and financials.
The software supports cross-database processes, including distribution requirements planning (DRP), enterprise material transfer (EMT) and enterprise operations planning (EOP), and includes infrastructure for cross-domain functionality, such as inventory visibility, credit control, payments, cash receipts and general ledger consolidations. As a result, global manufacturers can standardise operations on specific business practices as appropriate and leverage QAD`s flexible SOA technology architecture to reduce IT costs related to system maintenance and administration.
"This is a game-changing release for QAD," said Pamela Lopker, president and founder of QAD. "By giving global manufacturers the power to centralise management and control, yet preserve the flexibility each plant needs for optimal function, QAD is delivering support for an innovative operations model that is groundbreaking in the manufacturing sector."
"QAD Global Enterprise Edition is a marked departure from mega-suite ERP solutions, which in our opinion lack the flexibility required to match the distributed nature of manufacturing enterprises. We`re the only enterprise software vendor that can deliver business-critical enterprise capabilities and next-generation technology architecture," said Lopker.
QAD GXE affords a more efficient technology architecture for global manufacturing operations. The new release takes advantage of OpenEdge technology from Progress Software that enables a service-oriented architecture for significant advances in application function and agility.
"QAD continues to distinguish itself from other enterprise technology vendors by combining a real passion for and expertise in manufacturing with leading-edge technology, such as the Progress OpenEdge application development platform, to create the industry`s most flexible manufacturing solution," said David Ireland, president, OpenEdge Division, Progress Software. "Because the QAD Global Enterprise Edition takes advantage of service-oriented architecture capabilities in OpenEdge, global manufacturing customers gain a foundation for business that will serve them today and well into the future."
