QAD donates notebooks to the Key School

Johannesburg, 16 Aug 2006

QAD recently donated 16 notebooks to the Key School. The school is affiliated to Autism SA and specialises in meeting the needs of children with Pervasive Developmental Disorders (PDD), Autistic Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and Communication Disorders.

Autism is a life-long condition, with some children developing to the point where they can graduate to mainstream schooling, while others will require life-long care.

The school had one computer for teaching purposes. There are programs that are ideally suited to this environment and with the donation of the notebooks, children will now have access to these programs.

Jenny Gous, Principal of the Key School, said: "This is a very generous donation and will make a substantial difference to the lives of our children. We have about 30 children who would benefit from the notebooks, so we will rotate the 16 notebooks that have been donated. We were very fortunate to receive notebook backpacks from Targus, as they will protect the notebooks and allow us to let the children take the notebooks home with them, where their learning can continue."

Although QAD is an international company, with headquarters in the US, all the country offices work within their local communities.

"We want to support suitable charities and NGOs who are making an impact. The Key School had a particular appeal to us because they are helping these children to develop to their fullest potential," said Wade Gomes, director Middle East & Africa.
