
Qantas debuts in-flight store
Qantas has moved a step closer to enabling travellers to buy tickets to theme parks and concerts, hire cars and organise shuttle bus transfers before they arrive at their destination, states The Australian.
Australia's flagship carrier has signed US-based onboard retail technology company GuestLogix in an attempt to make current duty free sales quicker and prepare for future sales of other products and services.
The airline's low-cost carrier Jetstar was the first to embrace the concept of online stores, in which airlines get commission for selling products on board, earlier this year.
Experts advise Morrisons to learn from rivals
Supermarket firm Morrisons should learn from the mistakes of its rivals to develop an effective grocery retailing Web site, according to e-commerce experts, says V3.co.uk.
The supermarket giant says it is considering developing an online grocery service but is lagging behind main competitors Tesco, Sainsbury's and Asda, which have well-established sites.
However, some experts say Morrisons could do a much better job. “I've used a fair few of the current online sites, and none of them really stand out,” said Simon Bird, technical director at digital marketing agency DotDigital. “The navigation is often terrible, and none of them seem to have a logical layout,” Bird said.
Tata to buy Supervalu's India unit
Supermarket chain Supervalu says it will sell its India unit, which handles IT and corporate services, to Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), writes Reuters.
Terms were not disclosed, but Supervalu said about 600 of its employees currently working in its India unit will become part of Mumbai-based TCS.
The sale of the unit, which was formed in 2007, is expected to be completed by October, the company says.
