QlikView 10 - the enterprise BI standard with consumer app simplicity

SA launch reveals advances in search, performance, openness and manageability.

Johannesburg, 14 Dec 2010

QlikView SA, the South African distributor of leading business intelligence (BI) platform QlikView, has announced version 10 of the software at its annual QlikView Qonnections user conference, in Johannesburg, last month.

A capacity turnout of customers and partners at The Forum, in Bryanston - over 500 delegates - witnessed further leaps in the software's performance, manageability and openness, offset by a user experience that is consumer app-like in its ease of use.

Led by QlikView SA MD Davide Hanan, the programme alternated case studies with demos and ended with strategic perspectives from inspirational QlikTech CEO Lars Bj"ork, on his first visit to South Africa.

Confirmed leader

Hanan said Version 10 cements QlikView's position as the enterprise BI standard, leading organisations to increasingly alter the ways in which they access and process information.

“Associative in-memory BI architecture, pioneered by QlikView, invalidates accepted best practices. It redefines the way BI is used and implemented. It is now possible to deliver BI in days and to everyone in the organisation, from the CEO to the debtor clerk, all of that without a data warehouse, cubes or reports. With QlikView 10, we are continuing to transform the entire BI industry and our success is reflected in the fact that every month, 16 new South African companies buy QlikView.”

Pack-leading simplicity

So how does QlikView 10 lead the BI pack?

To begin with, it offers the simplicity of a great consumer application experience with powerful search technology (which, similar to Google's new instant search, provides instant results as you type), compelling data visualisation and Web views.

QlikView 10 is also totally open to customisation with maps, flow charts and flash animations, by allowing third-party systems to present QlikView data, and in its integration with all enterprise applications.

In addition, it delivers performance improvements across the board - from data acquisition to end user interaction - with innovative features like page object refreshing without refreshing the entire screen, great scalability and support for the latest hardware advances.

The tool also gives IT enhanced enterprise manageability with powerful, flexible and easy consoles for measuring, monitoring and deploying QlikView applications and data. It also offers centralised management capabilities, including load balancing, administration and refresh scheduling.

Partner feedback

What did delegates make of the event and release? Durban-based Insight Consulting, QlikView SA's Partner of the Year for 2010, reports “another very successful Qonnections event”.

Upuli de Abrew, director at Insight Consulting, says the case study presentations were most interesting as they showcased successful implementations in different organisations, using varying methodologies. “The presenters were engaging and passionate, and have certainly encouraged us and our customers to think about additional ways in which QlikView could add value to their companies.”

As with all previous versions, QlikView Version 10 is a revelation, she adds. “As we deal with larger and larger datasets, the parallel load processing will prove very valuable. QlikTech is also doing a good job of staying ahead of the curve in mobile deployment.”

Guiding lights

In closing, QlikTech CEO Bj"ork - who just received the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year award - assured delegates that QlikView's development will continue to be guided by the principles that made it great. “It became the standard through disruptive innovation and simplicity,” he said. “Neither principle will ever be sacrificed.”
