QuesCom, a leading player on the markets of VOIP-mobile convergence and Telecom application solutions, with a specific focus on fixed mobile convergence for enterprises and service providers, has acquired South African company Innovations New Product Design (Innovations), a research and development (R&D) company that has made its mark in least cost routing solutions. This will provide QuesCom with access to Innovations' R&D expertise and its established footprint in the South African market. This will also provide QuesCom with a springboard into other emerging telecommunications markets.
QuesCom specialises in telecommunications solutions for the mid-sized and enterprise markets, while Innovations delivers similar solutions for the small and medium enterprise. QuesCom's strengths lie in the field of fixed mobile convergence. Innovations' legacy spans 14 years and includes the development of a range of niche electronic solutions. Its flagship product is its least cost routing solution, Digi-Cell, 70 000 of which have already been deployed in the South African market. The company also provides solutions to South Africa's main cellular networks and service providers.
The relationship between QuesCom and Innovations was forged when the two companies partnered on a development project.
Says Philippe Oros, President at QuesCom: “The two companies, both well positioned in the telecommunications space, can tap into each other's expertise to form a stronger product offering, with expansion into new markets. Our experience with 'connecting' various telecommunication technologies, along with Innovations' developments in least cost routing (which essentially is the connectivity between Plain Old Telephone System PABX's and GSM, the mobile protocol used in the South African market), makes the decision to acquire Innovations a natural, evolutionary one. In addition, true to its name, Innovations has shown a pioneering approach in its development - something we require to take our company and solutions into emerging markets such as Africa.”
Says Francois Maritz, chairman at Innovations: “We are seeing a new wave of product developments that are providing more value to current solutions, such as convergence of VOIP and more value-added products. QuesCom will provide Innovations with the backing of an international brand that is represented in 40 countries.”
Innovations will form a strategic part of QuesCom's strategy to expand into emerging markets providing a base for development and distribution, and essentially creating a springboard for the company into other continents.
Additional value add is delivered to QuesCom as it will now have a local presence in the South African market with a local support centre, making investment in its brand more attractive. A new range of solutions will soon be available that meets the needs of the smaller sized enterprises as well as large enterprises.
