Rackspace releases survey results
US Web hosting and IT services firm, Rackspace Managed Hosting, has released the results of a customer survey, with nearly 70% of respondents indicating the number of IT functions outsourced to hosting, software-as-a-service or cloud service providers should increase over the next five years, reports The HN.
John Engates, CEO of Rackspace, says: ''Two-thirds of the survey respondents use a services provider to host one or more of their software-as-a-service applications today and the data indicates that demand is likely to increase.”
Nearly 50% of respondents said they expect the percentage of IT budgets spent on hosted services to increase over the next five years.
Baton Rouge signs IT outsourcing agreement
US-based Baton Rouge General Hospital has reached a three-year agreement under which PHNS will provide IT staffing and related services to Baton Rouge General and its parent company, General Health System, says Market Watch.
PHNS provides IT services for hospitals, other healthcare providers and businesses.
"We have made a significant investment in IT to optimise patient care and transform our hospital into the top tier of hospitals in the nation for the effective use of information technology," said Dionne Viator, senior VP and CFO for Baton Rouge.
China becomes major outsourcing destination
China is rapidly becoming one of the major new outsourcing destinations for software development by international technology enterprises, states Cambridge Wireless.
The first China International Service Outsourcing Cooperation Conference was held in Nanjing in concert with the fourth China (Nanjing) International Software Product Expo.
Senior representatives from Jiangsu province's Economic and Trade team sought to show delegates how the transition from traditional manufacturing to high technology services is taking shape in the new regional outsourcing hubs west of Shanghai.
