Radiospoor Telecoms, one of South Africa`s largest cellular companies, has signed a deal with NavisionDamgaard South Africa to implement a flexible mid-range financial system that would take it into an e-commerce world.
According to Radiospoor Telecoms e-business executive, Kerry Stephenson, the implementation of NavisionDamgaard by Compatible Information Technology Systems (CIS), one of NavisionDamgaard`s Solutions Centres, was on budget, on time, and on specification. "It was the most painless implementation I have ever experienced. There were minor difficulties, but basically it was superb. I was so confident, that I went away for the weekend of the cut-over, leaving a junior financial manager in charge."
Radiospoor started evaluating NavisionDamgaard Software in October 1999. The company was looking for a modern, flexible, midrange financial system, that would take it into an e-commerce world. Stephenson says, "We narrowed the list down to two vendors, when we discovered that NavisionDamgaard had a Web Shop component, on SQL Server 7. There was no option after that."
"Our mid-size customers, worldwide, have enabled us to stay focused on meeting the needs of companies in this market," says NavisionDamgaard SA managing director, Keith Mullan. "NavisionDamgaard Web Shop is an efficient way to bring your business to the Internet, because any additions, changes or modifications made in NavisionDamgaard Financials are immediately reflected at the e-commerce website. Equally innovative, the Microsoft SQL Server 7.0 Option for NavisionDamgaard Financials combines extended scalability and administrative capabilities with an affordable price tag."
Navision Web Shop empowers mid-size companies around the world to dynamically control, change and update their website, for Internet commerce, using the Microsoft "look and feel" found in NavisionDamgaard Financials. NavisionDamgaard Web Shop instantly updates a company`s Web storefront to reflect any changes made in NavisionDamgaard Financials, such as item prices, item descriptions, special sales offers and associated images.
"Customisation has just become easier and cheaper, as we all get to understand how the system works," adds Stephenson. "We run our IT and systems on a staff compliment of one, I outsource the rest. It is therefore critical for our partners to be fully competent, as there is no backup or alternative solution in-house. CIS exhibits their competency in many ways, including ensuring that all their systems run smoothly and continuously."
Mullan says that in any industry, a company competes through differentiation. "That is why we strive to create unique solutions that not only allow our customers, like Radiospoor, to achieve a high return on investment, but also allows them to gain and sustain a competitive advantage in their industries. Today, more than ever before, rapid change governs most business areas. In a world where the only thing you can count on is change, the adaptability of an Enterprise Business Solution is vital to the success of the business.
"NavisionDamgaard Financials was created with this in mind. The product has been optimised to allow for rapid and extensive customisation, so that the software enhances one`s business possibilities. We offer enterprise functionality without the costs and implementation time generally associated with enterprise solutions," he adds.
Radiospoor`s NavisionDamgaard Web Shop module is supplied by Linc Communications in Cape Town. Stephenson says, "Linc`s NavisionDamgaard expertise has grown considerably over the past year. We appointed Linc for their m-commerce expertise. Linc have now developed both a website and a WAPsite for our products and services."
"NavisionDamgaard has enhanced our existing, physical distribution business, and has enabled a whole new direct e-commerce component - both the clicks and the mortar. On the mortar side, it allows us to track all the shipments, all the customers, and even every airtime recharge that a customer makes anywhere in the country. The detail now in the data warehouse is astonishing. The Christmas rush is no longer a strain on the systems. No stock, no PIN number, no physical cash. It is a real win for our corporate airtime customer, and for us," concludes Stephenson.
