R&M training academy for fibre installers launched

Fibreplus, the South African distributor of R&M (Reichle & De-Massari ) fibre optic cabling products, is to establish a local training academy, which will offer the complete range of R&M training courses and certification programmes.

Swiss-based R&M is one of the world`s leading suppliers of high-rate generic data and telecommunications cabling systems with an extensive product offering targeted at a broad spectrum of customers ranging from telecom operators to home office users.

Hermann Sidler, chief technology officer at Fibreplus, says the local R&M training academy will offer comprehensive training for installers, system planners and distributors of fibre optic cabling and associated products, services and technical support.

"The training is designed to top up the knowledge of our partners and courses can be tailored to suit specific requirements," he says. "Areas or focus are voice applications, Cat 6 Cabling in LANs, structured cabling installations and the WAN environment."

Courses cover a range of topics including the Theory of Copper and Fibre Transmission, Installation Practices and Standards-based Applications.
