Rapid advance with convertibles seen in the fourth quarter of 2005

Munich/Germany, 16 Feb 2006

Fujitsu Siemens Computers sold more tablet PCs and convertibles in Europe, the Middle East and Africa than any other manufacturer in 2005. The leading European IT company posted sales of almost 40 000 tablet PCs and convertibles last year, or some 15 000 more than in the 2004. This amounted to 60% year-on-year growth (market growth: 8%) and a 25% market share - enough to claim top spot in this market segment.*

Fujitsu Siemens Computers upped the pace in the fourth quarter of 2005, when it again outperformed the competition with 74% growth and a 27% market share. The company is number one with slates (51% market share) as well as convertibles (30%), a segment in which its unit sales rose by a remarkable 178%.

"These figures show that we are the undisputed frontrunner in the market for pen-based tablet PCs and convertibles," said Peter Esser, Executive Vice-President Volume Products & Supply Operations at Fujitsu Siemens Computers.

"With more than 20 years of experience in this field and a large base of satisfied customers, we have now set our sights on developing products and solutions that are even more customer-friendly, flexible and lightweight."
