RAD Data Communications, a leading manufacturer of network access equipment for data communications and telecommunications, has appointed RapidCloud Technology (Pty) Ltd as an authorised distributor for Africa. This non-exclusive agreement will allow RapidCloud to distribute the full range of RAD`s products in South Africa and Africa in order to achieve better sales penetration in the region. RapidCloud`s customers will benefit from RAD`s diverse range of transitioning technologies aimed at providing seamless migration between different network generations.
RapidCloud has identified the African market as a key growth area. Minimal investment in IT and telecommunications infrastructure has been made over the past decade, however, cash-strapped public and private networks want to extend their investment in current infrastructure and will look to innovative technology solutions that will allow them to gradually migrate to newer technologies with minimal capital expenditure.
"The RAD product range embraces next generation networking from a transitioning and migration perspective. Africa cannot afford large-scale network upgrades, however, modernization of telecommunication networks is driving demand for access products that enable enterprises and network operators to reduce communication expenses and build stable, affordable networks" comments Arnoud de Nooy, Joint Managing Director at RapidCloud Technology. "RAD addresses a broad technology focus including ATM, IP/Ethernet, Frame Relay, TDMoIP, fiber optics and voice compression, all with integrated management. Thirty percent of RAD company employees are involved in R&D, enabling the company to customize product design to serve niche markets."
