A market is fast-emerging for the sale of factory refurbished, branded laptops, said Christopher Riley, CEO of South African notebook and accessories retailer, The Notebook Company.
"We recently detected a gap for selling refurbished brand names and it is a portion of our business which definitely looks poised to grow. We will continue to distribute new branded notebooks such as Acer, Mecer, Toshiba, IBM, HP, Compaq and Nec.
"We`ll just offer our clients refurbished units as well. We are still committed not to promote non-branded units - we can supply a non-branded unit on special request but we always warn our customers."
Riley added that The Notebook Company recently launched a Web site to auction off old rental units, saying response during the festive season had been "tremendous". Those interested can check out www.notebook.co.za/auctions.
