As information overload becomes prevalent in every company, it is becoming increasingly difficult to extract and analyse the information needed for effective decision-making. In response, Macola Software has become the first business software vendor to launch a suite, comprising VBA, ERS and developer tools, developed for true enterprise resource planning.
Because of its cross-application integration ability, the product, called Flexibility, also frees developers and end users from having to learn the idiosyncrasies of each language within a product`s development environment.
Macola`s Flexibility Suite provides business partners, solutions partners and end users with a way of customising, integrating and extending their Progression Series business solutions. The tools incorporated into the program are based on Macola`s Progression Series Extensibility Tools and Microsoft`s enabling technologies.
Nick Leonard, general manager of sales and marketing for Macola South Africa, says that more and more, companies are standardising on the same platform and architecture.
"They gain a competitive advantage by customising off-the-shelf applications that can deliver creative, efficient business processes. This approach offers both rapid development with the ability to integrate business processes, as well as the ability to take advantage of an application`s core functionality.
"As a result, companies will evaluate software applications on how extensively they can customise them," he continues.
Within Macola`s Flexibility Suite, VBA for Progression will be the pivot point for automating and enhancing this integration. By integrating VBA into Macola`s flagship Progressions Series product, Macola will give developers the capabilities of other applications while minimising the learning curve.
Leonard adds that the Flexibility Suite takes between one fifth and one-tenth the time of similar products to customise to customers` needs.
Macola`s Enterprise Reporting System, a client/server SQL-based report builder and information analysis tool, forms the data mining component of the Flexibility Suite.
It combines reporting, querying and advanced data mining technology with VBA extensibility as well as the ability to access multiple database engines at the same time. It can also create and maintain data marts, with Macola`s exclusive data mining feature allowing users to graphically navigate large amounts of data quickly.
"ERS is also able to communicate simultaneously with many data resources reporting and data manipulation," explains Leonard. "And for reporting writing professionals and developers, the product provides a development tool for any task where data manipulation and movement are necessary."
Leonard concludes: "The extensibility components incorporated into the Progression Series Flexibility Program give our customers the ease of use and power to customise, extend and integrate their business solutions."
